Letters: Tax cuts here to stay

Well, here we go again — the 98 percent will get their Bush tax cuts made permanent.

Why, you ask? Well, 20 years ago, Grover Norquist had all Republicans sign a pledge never to raise taxes on anyone. If you did, he would make sure you never got re-elected.

So if the Republicans let us go off the fiscal cliff, that means their “no” vote turns out to be a vote to raise taxes on the 98 percent.

Now Grover will be a busy man making sure all of those Republicans who said “Let their tax rates go up” would probably not get re-elected. That has been his job for 20 years. He is probably pretty good at it.

As for letting the rich get their taxes raised, it’s probably too late. Who knows, he could let that one pass. We will see about it in a week or two.
