Falling asleep at the wheel is suspected in a single-car rollover crash early Thursday morning that left one man slightly injured, a local sheriff’s sergeant said.

About 6:40 a.m., a motorist in his 60’s was travelling on Valencia Boulevard when his car left the roadway between Cinema Drive and Creekside Road, said Sgt. Rich Nagler.

“We believe he fell asleep,” he said.

The car reportedly hit a tree but no other vehicles were involved.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the call and examined the driver at the crash, said Inspector Tony Imbrenda.

“We received the call at 6:41,” he said. “It was a report of vehicle overturned.”

The driver suffered only minor injuries and was not taken to hospital, Nagler said.
