About 20 Girl Scouts delivered hand-made “comfort cards” to seniors at Sunrise Senior Living in Valencia on Monday, part of a bid to ensure no local senior is forgotten this holiday season.
The girls handed out some of the more than 500 cards made by Newhall School District students under a program coordinated by Comfort Keepers In-Home Care, said Diane Blair, spokeswoman for the business.
“For many of our seniors, these will be the only cards they receive,” Blair said. “It is our hope that this project will go some distance in helping to bridge the generation gap between kids and seniors, encourage the spirit of giving in our kids, and rekindle the true spirit of the holidays for everyone involved.”
Card deliveries were planned at other senior living centers throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, she said.
