The California Farm Water Coalition is hosting its 10th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest for all fourth-graders in California.

The top three winners will receive $150, $100 and $50 U.S. Savings Bonds.

Teachers of the top three entries will also each receive a $100 cash award for classroom supplies.

The contest recognizes "Water Awareness Month" in May and emphasizes how California farmers use water to produce food and fiber.

The contest is open to students enrolled in public, private schools and home schools.

The deadline for entry is April 10.

Contest guidelines and 2008 posters are on the Kids section of the coalition's Web site at www.farmwater.org.

"Each year the students surprise us with their ability to draw posters that reflect the use of water on California farms," said Mike Wade, coalition executive director.

Winners and those receiving honorable mention in this year's contest will be featured on the coalition's Web site.

The California Farm Water Coalition is the state's only agricultural water organization in California that deals solely in farm water education to the public.

Its membership includes individuals, irrigation districts and agricultural businesses throughout the state that represent more than 6 million irrigated acres in California.
