Alleged extortionist Jose Gregorio will enter a plea in Santa Clarita Superior Court Feb. 6, a district attorney official said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office charged Gregorio with one count of felony extortion Friday. Deputies arrested Gregorio, a 43-year-old Mexican national, at a local pay phone.

Gregorio allegedly requested a $20,000 ransom for the victim's brother who Gregorio claimed was held in Mexico, said Sgt. John Bomben, of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Community Interaction Team.
The victim's brother was never kidnapped and deputies established that the brother was safe in Mexico, Bomben said.
