In response to “Property owners face likely vote on new pollution fees,” Dec. 5:
1) Notices went out early last week. I received one on Monday and one on Tuesday (two separate properties).
2) It’s my understanding that we already pay a flood control tax. This is to increase the tax.
3) You did not reference what the impact would be on non-residences (businesses). It’s my understanding that the cost could be in the $1,000s.
4) The mailers do look like junk mail. I had been warned and was on the lookout for the mailer.
Editor’s note: A follow-up story published Dec. 8 (“Fee faces some protest”) informs readers that business fees could be into the tens of thousands of dollars and notes a previously existing city fee for the same apparent purpose, adding officials don’t yet know what the proposed fee would mean in terms of the existing fee.
