Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and The Signal will host the first SCV Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at College of the Canyons.

The free event will provide information about healthy lifestyles and the health care services available in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The hospital will offer a wide variety of free health information and screenings, including cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and carbon-monoxide monitoring.

There will be no charge for any of the screenings.

Hospital clinical staff will also be on hand to answer questions about hospital services, including imaging, cardiac care, mammography and smoking cessation. A pharmacist will be available to discuss concerns about prescription drugs.

The fair will include more than 70 local health care professionals and vendors providing health information, including experts in family medicine, pediatrics, physical therapy, dentistry and public health. Professionals will make mini health education lectures throughout the day.

"Visitors to the Health and Wellness Fair will have the opportunity to meet health care professionals with businesses located in the Santa Clarita Valley," said Sydney Nicholas, chairman for the SCV Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee.

"Our purpose is to educate our community about healthy lifestyles and heighten awareness of the health care resources that are available close to home."

The hospital and The Signal are platinum sponsors for the SCV Chamber's Health and Wellness Fair. Gold sponsors are The Magazine of Santa Clarita, KHTS, and Providence Holy Cross. Bronze sponsors are Aligned Health Chiropractic and Wellness Center and Comfort Keepers In-Home Care.
