State Sen. Steve Knight, R-Palmdale, has introduced a bill to expand sales and use tax exemptions to cover equipment and materials used to construct facilities that are designed to launch space vehicles, his office announced Tuesday.

The proposed legislation, Senate Bill 19, would help ensure California is keeping up with other states such as Texas, Florida, Alaska and Arizona in the race to appeal to the space industry, Knight said in a news release.
