SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors say a 28-year-old Los Angeles man has been convicted of participating in a murder plot that killed two members of an Anaheim Hills family in 2007.

Orange County Deputy District Attorney Howard Gundy says Charles Murphy Jr. of Mission Hills was convicted Wednesday of two counts of murder and one count each of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Jurors found true special circumstance allegations including murder for financial gain.

Prosecutors say Murphy helped friend Iftekhar Murtaza kill the father and sister of Murtaza's ex-girlfriend Shayona Dhanak and set the family's home on fire.

Last year, a jury convicted Murtaza's friend Vitaliy Krasnoperov of the murders. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Murphy faces life when he is sentenced Jan. 4.

Murtaza goes on trial next year.
