How many of you have resolved to spend more time this year with your family - grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren?

This past Sunday, our family joined together at The Gentle Barn on Sierra Highway and had a wonderful time.

For those of you who may not be familiar with The Gentle Barn, it is a home to 60 animals recovering from abuse in a real farm setting.

What a delight for the grandchildren to actually see a calf nursing, to feed the horses, walk in the barnyard with the chickens and turkeys.

They truly learned why a pig is called a pig when they saw them rolling around in a mud puddle. The sheep and goats were also very friendly and loved being petted.

The staff was kept very busy answering our many questions about the history of these farm animals and their recovery at this wonderful farm.

Need a place to go with your family? Consider The Gentle Barn.
