Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, announced Thursday that he has been named the vice chairman of the state Assembly’s Rules Committee for its 2013 legislative session.

The committee serves as the Assembly’s executive committee, handling all personnel matters, granting rule suspensions or waivers and referring all proposed bills to the proper committee for review.

The chairwoman of the Assembly Rules Committee is three-term Democrat Nancy Skinner.

“I am committed to fighting for better schools, more jobs, and creating a culture of fiscal discipline that doesn’t currently exist in California,” Wilk said in a news release. “We can and must do better.”
