Bob Cochran has announced he is retiring after 20 years as the chief of staff for Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon.
McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, first hired Cochran after being elected to the House of Representatives in 1992.
“Bob has served in this position with distinction and been a loyal soldier on behalf of myself and the constituents of the 25th (Congressional) District,” McKeon said in a news release. “His success with my office will follow him into the private sector, and I wish him all the best with his new endeavor.”
Prior to working with McKeon, Cochran worked for nine years as the district director for longtime Republican California Congressman Carlos Moorhead.
Moorhead’s district during that time included the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.
Cochran will take a position with Porter Gordon Silver Communications, a legislative and regulatory consulting agency, beginning in January.
