Ted Aquaro: Who is in charge?

In recent weeks, we have seen the news flooded with “Zippergate” involving Gens. David Petraeus and John Allen, who have both had questionable relationships with some kind of military
groupies.

Further Web-surfing finds more general-grade officers in trouble. Army Four Star General William Ward lost a star, was forced to retire and fined $82,000 for lavish spending.

Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair is under investigation for serious sex crimes involving military personnel.

Navy Adm. James Stavridis is in hot water for going on a wine-tasting expedition using military aircraft.

It is hard for me to understand how these military academy graduates can be so corrupted while any behavior even bordering these things would get any enlisted personnel immediate and harsh punishment.

It is time for the people in charge of these people to take action to screen out the bad apples; these guys are acting like a bunch of politicians.

There are enough problems in America without our military leaders emulating the actions of Congress.

Whatever happened to duty and honor when serving our great country?

I hate to raise questions without offering some possible answers, so one thing they could try would be to step back in time and put some saltpeter in the mashed potatoes in the officers’ mess.

This might slow down the sex stuff, but it won’t cure stupid or poor judgment; that is terminal.
