Saturday, Jan. 24, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: The 2009 Santa Clarita Valley Family History Fair will feature an exciting day of classes and workshops conducted by experts in family history, digital photography and scrapbooking. The keynote speaker will be Tom Underhill. Registration is from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m., with the opening keynote from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 24, 2 p.m.: This "Challengers Tournament" is the first of three jousting tournament events, and features some of the best knights, warriors and war horses in jousting today. There will also be demonstrations in dirt skiing/boarding and swordsmanship, contests in archery, spear throwing, sack racing and shield hitting, nature and conservation presentations, food and beverages. Children five and under are free, ages six to 14 are $6. General admission is $10. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the tournament begins at 2 p.m. Directions: Take I-5 up the Grapevine to the Lebec exit and follow the "Joust!" signs.

Saturday, Jan. 24, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Celebrate the city of Santa Clarita's 30 miles of off-street trails with professional cyclists competing in the upcoming Amgen Tour of California. The ride will end at Bridgeport Park, where there will be food, fun and giveaways. There is no cost to participate - just show up at one of three designated starting points (view the flyer PDF at the Web site) before 10 a.m. for a leisurely ride through Santa Clarita.
