Lawmakers including Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, are working to introduce legislation to rename NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center as the Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center.

Under the proposal, the legislators would also change the name of the Western Aeronautical Test Range to the Hugh L. Dryden Aeronautical Test Range.

The purpose of the bill is to honor Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, and Dryden, an aeronautical engineer and former deputy administrator of NASA.

The facilities are located at Edwards Air Force Base.
