Man in custody on DUI charge following crash early today

A man is in custody today facing a charge of impaired driving after the car he was driving crashed into a tree early this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday, a black 1993 Chevy Camero hit a utility pole, a tree and a light box near the intersection of The Old Road and Pico Canyon Road, the CHP spokeswoman said.

The driver suffered no significant injury, she said.

He was booked on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, she said.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash. The driver’s name was not released.
