Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich presided over the county’s annual Christmas tree lighting with a little help from the Castaic Middle School choir.

“As we light the county Christmas tree, we invite all of our county’s citizens to join us and reflect on the glory of the season and share in the celebration,” said Antonovich in a release.

Tuesday’s lighting of the county’s 50-foot-tall tree is part of more than a century of national tradition. President Calvin Coolidge presided over the first national Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at the White House in 1923.
