These photographs provided by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station show an alleged purse-snatcher at the Carl's Jr. restaurant at Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway.

Officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are seeking public assistance in nabbing an alleged purse snatcher.

A man allegedly stole a woman’s purse at approximately 8:10 p.m. Sunday at a Carl’s Jr. restaurant on Newhall Avenue.

According to officials, the woman accidentally left her purse hanging on a chair when she left the restaurant. Upon returning to her table, the woman discovered her purse was gone.

Video surveillance at the restaurant captured a man, described as about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 180 to 200 pounds, leaving the location with the purse.

The man then drove away in a white Toyota or Honda car that is missing its rear passenger-side hubcap.

Those who may have knowledge of the crime, or the suspect in question, are encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
