I missed Black Friday this year. I just didn’t see anything that I just had to have that made me want to brave the madding crowds!

Holiday Lights Contest

I’ve had several inquiries about The Signal’s annual Holiday Lights Contest. We will be visiting all entries on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 8. Deadline to enter is Friday, Dec. 7. Right now I only see two entries! Visit www.the-signal.com and click on the “contests” tab or enter online at www.the-signal.com/lights. If you have any questions please contact me directly at mbuttelman@the-signal.com. This year the public will be encouraged to vote for their favorite, which will be tallied with the judges’ scores.

Are you ready?

It looks like a storm of holiday activities will descend on the SCV next weekend. Are you ready for Home Tour? Placerita Nature Center Craft Fair? Literacy & Arts Festival? Holiday boutiques? There’s something for everyone!

World of Holiday Joy

The annual holiday concert by the Santa Clarita Master Chorale will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3:30 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate the holiday season! Visit www.scmasterchorale.org for information and tickets. Tickets are priced $14 to $26 for general admission and $10 to $21 for seniors and students.

‘The Nutcracker Ballet’

One of my favorite events of the season, the annual “Nutcracker Ballet” presented by the Santa Clarita Ballet Company will be performed at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons. Tickets are: Adults: $30 Orchestra / Box; $28 Balcony. Children under 10: $26 any seat. Seniors 65 and over: $26 any seat. To purchase tickets by phone leave a message and your call will be returned within 24 business hours. 661-251 - 0366.

Donate to Golden Valley

The Golden Valley High School marching band and color guard is raising money through a Goodwill donation drive. They need to stuff a Goodwill truck with bags and boxes of donations. Currently, the truck is about half full and they need the community’s help. The last drop off date is Dec. 8. The Goodwill truck will be at the high school on Dec. 9 to collect everything. Golden Valley High School is located off Golden Valley Road in Santa Clarita.
