CIF cross country: Saugus girls win 7th straight state XC title

Ortega finishes second, Yarnall is second in boys race

The Saugus girls team stands with its CIF State Cross Country Division II championships trophy on Saturday at Woodbridge Park in Fresno.

 

At the CIF State Cross Country finals in Fresno, the Saugus girls cross country team won its seventh straight state title on Saturday, winning by 11 points over La Costa Canyon.

The Centurions Samanta Ortega was second overall.

Saugus' A.J. Yarnall finished a program best second overall to lead Saugus to a second-place team finish in the boys race earlier in the day.

Nolan Del Valley, the lone runner from Golden Valley, finished 15th overall.
