The other 'cross-town connector'

I know all the fat cats own land along Golden Valley and can't wait to put up more muffler shops and nail salons as soon as the gazillion-dollar bridge goes up.

But there is already a fairly direct route between the 14 and the 5, which hundreds of people rely on every day and which gets almost totally neglected, probably because there's not enough commercial frontage for the oinkers to monetize.

I speak of Sand Canyon, Sierra Highway, Vasquez Canyon, Bouquet Canyon, David Way, Copper Hill and Rye Canyon.

It sounds convoluted, but it's a (relatively speaking for the SCV) straight shot from the east side of Canyon Country to the Valencia Industrial area, where the city would like us all to work.

There is a 10-mile stretch on this route with no place to pass, and since dirt-haulers and cement trucks use this route, it can create mile-long processions of angry, slow-moving drivers.

Perhaps amidst all the hoopla for the Golden Valley cross-valley connector, we could maybe figure out a way to widen Sand and Vasquez in a couple of places.
