Motorists traveling in the area of Bouquet Reservoir Tuesday might have caught a glimpse of helicopters pulling old utility poles out of the ground in the area, a spokeswoman for Southern California Edison confirmed.

At least four deteriorated poles were removed by helicopters as part of routine maintenance, said company spokeswoman Anna Frutos-Sanchez.

“This was a planned activity to replace deteriorated poles,” she said. “We inspect them on a regular basis.”

The work was originally scheduled to be done last Thursday but strong winds forced planners to reschedule it.

Traffic along Bouquet Canyon Road from the reservoir was disrupted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
