An Acton motorcycle rider is dead, his passenger injured and his motorcycle gone following a fatal crash this week, officials confirmed Tuesday.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol reported that someone took the bike while its driver lay dead or dying next to it Sunday night following a crash on Sierra Highway in the Antelope Valley.

“Prior to law enforcement arrival, the motorcycle was removed from the scene by unknown parties and remains missing at this time,” a CHP investigating officer wrote in his report.

Tim Best, 49, of Acton, was pronounced dead by county Fire Department paramedics at 7:48 p.m. Sunday, Antelope Valley CHP officers reported.

Lisa Glorioso, 48, also of Acton, identified as his passenger, was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital with serious injuries, they said.

“I’m lucky to be alive right now,” she told The Signal Tuesday from her hospital bed.

About 7:20 p.m., Best was riding the motorcycle southbound on Sierra Highway just south of Soledad Canyon Road and about two miles south of Pearblossom Highway. Glorioso was on the passenger seat.

For unknown reasons, as Best entered a bend in the road, he crashed into the guardrail.

In the collision, Glorioso was thrown from the bike down the side of the south embankment, the CHP report said.
Best, however, became entangled on the guardrail and suffered injuries that proved fatal.

Glorioso climbed up the embankment, contacted emergency services and waited for assistance. There were no reports that she saw anyone take the motorcycle.

Paramedics with the AMR Ambulance service took her to the hospital.

Best worked as a driver for the film industry with films such as “Hatchet 2,” “29 Palms,” “Hollywood Palms” and “Free Enterprise” to his credit.

CHP officers are investigating the case.
