The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station screened more than 900 vehicles and made one arrest during an eight-hour DUI and driver’s license checkpoint Friday night through Saturday morning.
The checkpoint from 6 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday was located at Lyons Avenue and Wheeler Road in Newhall.
Of the 919 vehicles screened by sheriff’s officials, one person was arrested for DUI and three were given field sobriety tests.
Four drivers were sent to court for being unlicensed or for driving with a license that was suspended or revoked, and 10 drivers were cited and sent to court for other vehicle code violations.
Funding for DUI operations such as this comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
