An SUV was found slammed into a tree on Orchard Village Road in Valencia early Friday, but nobody was with the vehicle when firefighters and law-enforcement officials arrived.

However, the man who had been driving the vehicle was located later Friday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Lt. Bill Weiss said.

Guns found inside the SUV in a lockbox were left behind after the crash, but the guns were determined to be licensed and legal, Weiss said.

No arrests were made because no crime occurred, the lieutenant added.

The Ford Explorer was found crashed into a tree around 2:30 a.m. Friday about a quarter-mile south of Dalby Drive.
Details on the number of guns found in the SUV or the reason the driver left the scene were not available.
