The discovery of a inert replica grenade led to the evacuation of several apartments in Valencia on Thursday afternoon, Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s officials said.
After the grenade was found at 12:30 p.m., the sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail investigated and surrounding apartments were evacuated until 2 p.m., said Lt. Bill Weiss of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Residents were allowed back home the grenade was found to be a replica, not the real thing. No one was injured, Weiss said.
