Metrolink’s Holiday Toy Express train rolls into the Santa Clarita Valley on Sunday, Nov. 25, this year, providing local residents with a long-standing holiday tradition that doubles as a toy drive for underprivileged families.

“The Metrolink Holiday Toy Express brings joy to the community and is a great way to help spread holiday cheer this seasons,” Santa Clarita Mayor Frank Ferry said of the event.

Residents are invited to greet the Holiday Toy Express and bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation to the Southland Firefighters’ “Spark of Love Toy Drive” sponsored by Metrolink and KABC Channel 7.

The train is decorated with 50,000 lights and holiday displays. It will pull into the Newhall Metrolink Station in downtown Newhall at 7 p.m. Nov. 25. There the Canyon Theatre Guild holiday carolers will perform and attendees will be treated to hot chocolate and cookies from the Old Town Newhall Association.

The 450-ton train begins its holiday excursions to Southern California communities this Saturday and will visit 41 communities before it’s done.
