The Signal's website name changing

The name of The Signal’s website will change to signalscv.com on Dec. 1, Publisher Randy Morton announced today.

“Our current name, the-signal.com, has been used for years but it’s time to make the change,” Morton added. “It’s part of our focus to make all of our products more user-friendly.”

Signal Multimedia is launching a “Lose the Dash” campaign today as designed by Chief Multimedia Officer Vince Johnson. It’s designed to make readers aware that the website name will be changing and why.

On Dec. 1, signalscv.com will be adopted as the new official title, but users who type in the-signal.com on their Web browser will automatically get the new Web address.

“Lots of people have suggested we get rid of the dash,” Johnson said. “Signalscv is just easier all the way around.”

Similarly, all Signal email addresses will also change to signalscv.com on Dec. 1, according to Executive Editor Jason Schaff. “If someone sends an email to an old Signal email address, it should still go through to the new address,” he said.

These changes come as traffic on The Signal’s website continues to increase. According to Google Analytics, the site currently has 1.2 million page views per month. It also has more than 200,000 unique visitors per month, an increase of more than 30 percent over last year.

“Clearly, people believe our website is the best source of information for the Santa Clarita Valley, and it’s growing fast,” Morton said. “We want signalscv.com and related mobile components to be simple, effective and fun. That will continue to be our focus going forward.”
