Exclamations of joy and sounds of cheer rang throughout the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center on Dec. 11, as Diana Vose, president of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation received fundraising proceeds from several community organizations totaling more than $34,000.

The donations, which were raised during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will be applied towards equipment upgrades at the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.

“Our Breast Imaging Center is very important to the women of this community,” said Vose. “We are very pleased to receive these donations that allow us to continue meeting their needs and ensure we offer the very highest quality and state-of-the-art equipment.”

Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley raised $5,000 at an inaugural wine tasting event held at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall.

Dianne Crawford and Pink Ribbon Gifts donated $25,000; and, in lieu of their annual golf invitational and tea, Wayne and Dianne Crawford along with Don and Cheri Fleming sent out donation requests to past donors and raised $3,500.

Greg Amsler, owner of Salt Creek Grille, raised $1,100 during a wine tasting event held at the restaurant, and Vino 100 Valencia raised $500 during several wine tasting fundraisers in October.

Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center offers the latest digital technology for mammograms and has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
