Don Fleming has been re-appointed as Board of Directors co-chairman to the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation for a second term, the non-profit organization announced Monday.

Fleming, owner of Valencia Acura, was unanimously voted for re-election at the organization’s quarterly board meeting on Thursday, Nov. 1. He will continue working with co-chairman Calvin Hedman, of Hedman Partners, in leading the organization’s efforts to strengthen the Valley’s economy, said a spokesperson for the SCVEDC. Hedman’s term runs until November 2013.

“It has been a joy to be a part of such a dynamic organization,” Fleming said. “We are making significant strides and it’s exciting to be a driving force of those efforts.”

The co-chair structure is designed to maximize the unique talents of SCVEDC’s top leaders, said Jonas Peterson, president and CEO.

“Don and I are very proud of the EDC and its accomplishments,” Hedman said. “We have an incredibly passionate and creative Board of Directors that has led the organization to many successes.”

The co-chair model allows us to pursue multiple projects by leveraging the networks and abilities of our co-chairs, Peterson said.

“To date, this leadership has made the SCVEDC one of the most productive in California,” Peterson said.
