The Signal hit a new milestone in October when it attracted more than 1.1 million page views in a month, according to Google Analytics.

The number of page views is up more than 148,000 page views per month, over a similar period one year ago when the newspaper first began posting stories online throughout the day, as they occurred and broke, in the spring of 2011.

The number of unique visitors to the paper’s website, www.the-signal.com, climbed to 165,646 unique visitors during the same time period – up 3,260 per month more than the previous year.

And, the number of brand new visitors to The Signal’s website is up 32.75 percent, according to Google Analytics.

“It’s a good sign that some of the changes we’ve made have been on target,” said Publisher Randy Morton. I’m very proud of our staff for moving into the new world of multimedia. Developing relevant content and getting it delivered in different ways is what we’re focused on right now.”

Page views represent the total number of views on a website during a given time period, said Joe Choo, The Signal’s director of technology and new media.

Unique visitors are based on the number of different people who visit the website, he said.

The Signal’s million-plus page views per month was calculated for the time period Oct. 5 through Nov. 4.
