Hot weather and high fire danger are expected to continue through today, but the Santa Clarita Valley will see a cooling trend later this week with a chance of showers by Thursday night, the National Weather Service reported.

A red flag warning is in effect until 4 p.m. today as high temperatures combine with breezy conditions and summer-dried fuel for high fire danger.

Highs today are expected to hit 92 degrees in Saugus and the 90s throughout the rest of the Santa Clarita Valley.
But temperatures will begin a downward trend by Tuesday, with highs forecast at 83 on Tuesday, 77 on Wednesday and 67 Thursday under sunny to mostly sunny skies.

By Friday it will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, National Weather Service forecasters say.
