Did you remember to “fall” back before you went to bed last night and set your clock back an hour? If you forgot you might find yourself showing up an hour early to today’s events, which include the Santa Clarita Marathon and Sunset in the Vineyard.

Rescues on the Runway

The fourth annual Rescues on the Runway to benefit the rescue of shelter animals facing euthanasia will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

The event begins with a holiday boutique that is open to the public from 3 to 8 p.m.. there is no admission fee for the boutique.

At 4 p.m., the public is invited to meet animal rescues that are up for adoption. At 6 p.m., the benefit dinner and celebrity catwalk and doggie beauty contest (with prizes awarded) will be held. Lassie is scheduled to appear as the guest star of the event.

All proceeds are dedicated to save the lives of animals in the shelters. Rescues on the Runway is seeking donations, vendors and volunteers.

Tickets are $35 and $75 and are available online at www.rescuesontherunway.com or call 661-252-3232.

Duck race winners

Winners from the 2012 Ducky Regatta were announced at Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers’ 10th annual Rubber Ducky Festival. Residents throughout the Santa Clarita Valley adopted ducks to race at the event. Winners from each of three heats participated in a final Grand Regatta to determine prize winners.

The nonprofit’s signature fundraiser raised more than $90,000, with all proceeds going toward patient care in Santa Clarita. More than $5,500 in donated prizes were awarded.

The grand price, a $2,500 gift certificate for travel on Southwest Airlines was won by Danielle Burleson. The second place prize of four Disneyland One-Day Park Hopper admission tickets was won by Tamara Baynham.

The third place prize, an adult men’s Thrive bicycle was won by Rochelle Patterson. Fourth place, two Six Flags Magic Mountain admission tickets were won by Liz Seipel. The fifth place prize a Wellness Services and Body Scan by Dr. Thomas Polucki, Chiropractic was won by Teresa Kerr.

It seems that the ladies did have the luck going on!
