Cal State LA dorm fire injures 5, 2 critically

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Five women have been burned — two critically — in a kitchen fire at a dorm at California State University Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says cooking oil caught fire on a stove around 8 p.m.

Five women, age 18 to 24, were taken to the hospital. Two suffered first and second-degree burns from five to 20 percent of their bodies.

The other three had minor burns.

Three of the women were Cal State LA students. the other two women were visiting.

Scott says the fire was extinguished when firefighters arrived.
