Sheriff’s deputies have found the boy who was thought to be kidnapped Friday evening in Canyon Country, officials said.
The child was simply picked up by his grandparents and wrapped in a blanket because he was cold, said Deputy Joshua Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in an email.
The Sheriff’s Station received a call at 5:05 p.m. Friday that a 5-year-old boy was taken by two people in a red Kia after being wrapped in a blanket from a playground in the area of Palomino Place and Silver Saddle Circle in Canyon Country. The caller also provided a partial license plate of the vehicle.
Sheriff’s Station deputies, detectives and the search-and-rescue team searched the area.
Officials were eventually able to find a vehicle in South Central Los Angeles matching the partial license and the witness’ description, and determine no kidnapping had taken place.
