Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Bureau announced Wednesday that they arrested assault suspect Bernhardt Darko at approximately 9:30 a.m., according to a department news release.

Darko, a 28-year-old man from Valencia, was arrested without incident at the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Texahoma Avenue in the Encino area of Los Angeles. He has been booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on a felony assault charge with a deadly weapon and is being held on $30,000 bail, according to the news release.  

Darko is accused of assaulting a man in his late 60s while on a city bus at the transit center in Valencia on Oct. 5. The victim suffered multiple injuries to his face and head.
