An apparent road rage incident ended up with one motorist lunging at another motorist with a knife, local sheriff’s deputies said.

About 7:15 a.m., as many people in the Santa Clarita Valley were making their way to work, one motorist got into an argument with another motorist on the road, said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“An argument ensued as a result of a road rage incident,” he said. “They pulled over at the Shell station on Bouquet (Canyon Road) and Seco (Canyon Road) still arguing.

“At that point, one of them pulled out a knife, with the blade out and threatened the other and started to go at him,” he said. “He pointed it at him, he went at him and got pretty close.”

No one was injured, he said.

Witnesses called deputies with reports of the incident and a description of the knife-wielder’s car, he said.

Deputies stopped a car matching the description and arrested a 39-year-old Newhall man.

Gilbert Yoon is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
