A local registered sex offender in and out of jail since June for having twice violated his parole is behind bars today after his parole was revoked, corrections officials confirmed.

William Greggory Babb, now 52, was arrested and jailed in June for a parole violation due to pornography found on his home computer. The porn was discovered during a routine check by parole officers.

Six weeks later, the 6-foot-tall, 300-pound Babb was released back to his home in a mobile home park on Soledad Canyon Road.

Six weeks after that, on Sept. 19, he was arrested again for having violated his parole a second time.

On Wednesday, at a parole revocation hearing inside the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles, parole board officials revoked Babb’s parole and ordered him kept in custody for at least 180 days, a corrections spokesman said.

News of the parole board’s decision was well-received by the woman whose son was molested by Babb.

“They did a good job,” said Caroline Mason, referring to Babb’s designated parole officer and a deputy of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station who followed through on the complaint she filed that led to his second arrest.

“I haven’t received that kind of help since this whole thing began.” she told The Signal Monday.

Mason called the Sheriff’s Station last month when Babb entered an ice cream shop where her son works and asked for the young man by name.

Any contact with her son would be a violation of Babb’s parole.

Babb was arrested at his home shortly after the visit.

At least three employees of the ice cream shop testified at Babb’s parole hearing about the day he entered the shop.

Babb pleaded guilty in June 2010 to one felony count of contacting a minor with the intention of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior.

The charge stems from having preyed on church-going boys in 2010.

He was declared a registered sex offender.
