CIF Playoffs: First fall brackets released

The first CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets of the fall season were released on Monday with the 8-man football and girls tennis postseason beginning this week.

In football, Heritage League champion and CIF-SS Division II 8-man No. 4 overall seed Trinity Classical Academy will host Coastal League at-large team Price in the first round. The game is preliminarily scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Canyon High

In girls tennis, no local teams received a top-four seed in the Division II playoffs.

The top seed from the Foothill League is co-champion Hart, though, by way of a 19-17 total games advantage over co-champion Valencia in Foothill League play.

The Indians host Prep League No. 2 team Chadwick on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

All first-round matchups take place Wednesday at 2.

Valencia will host Rio Hondo League No. 2 La Canada.

Two Foothill teams received wild-card berths and will begin the postseason on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Foothill League No. 3 West Ranch will travel to play Prep League No. 3 Poly of Pasadena.

If the Wildcats win, they will play at Century League No. 2 El Dorado on Wednesday.

Foothill No. 4 Saugus will travel to Rio Hondo League No. 3 Temple City on Tuesday.

A victory by the Centurions would match them up against Division II No. 2 seed overall and Pacific League champion Arcadia.
