It marked the first time the area had hosted Pac-12 championships

It was the first of its kind in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Robinson Ranch Golf Club hosted the Pac-12 cross country championships on Saturday. Until then, the finals had never been held in the SCV.

The same venue hosted the Pac-12 Preview meet on Sept. 21.

Saturday’s race was for real though, and the Colorado men and Oregon women were crowned team conference champions when all was said and done.

Arizona’s Lawi Lalang won his second straight individual Pac-12 title in the men’s 8K race, finishing in 22 minutes, 49 seconds.

Stanford’ Kathy Kroeger was victorious in the women’s 6K race in 20:06.

Two locals were also involved in the women’s race, including Arizona sophomore and Saugus High graduate Stephanie Bulder, who took 35th place in 21:20.

She was the sixth best finisher for the Wildcats, who were the No. 2 team finisher behind Oregon.

UCLA’s Jennifer Owen, a West Ranch graduate, finished 104th in 23:58. The UCLA women were sixth.

No locals participated in the men’s race. Host team UCLA finished fifth among just nine schools fielding a men’s team.

The races will be shown on tape delay on the Pac-12 Networks several times beginning on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. After that, it will be re-aired four times from Nov. 6 to Nov. 8.

This marks the first time the conference’s cross country championships will be televised as the Pac-12 Networks went on the air earlier this year.
