A woman whose body was found slumped over the steering wheel of a locked car in Canyon Country on Friday has been identified.

A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner identified the woman as Barbara Poe, 46, of Canyon Country.

“It was called in as probably a natural death,” said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie on Sunday.

“We haven’t done an autopsy yet so we don’t know,” she said. “An autopsy is scheduled for (Monday) tomorrow.”

The body was discovered after 5 p.m. Friday on Oak Springs Canyon Road and Livery Way inside a running car, officials said.

The coroner responded to the scene Friday night, but Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives did not, two sheriff’s lieutenants said Saturday.

“(The death) could be natural. It wasn’t under suspicious circumstances,” Lt. Mark Hershey said Saturday.
