URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA649 PM PDT THU OCT 25 2012...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAYAFTERNOON FOR GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES FOR MUCH OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES....

GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL BRING CRITICAL FIREWEATHER CONDITIONS TO LOWER ELEVATION AREAS THROUGH SATURDAYAFTERNOON. NORTHERLY WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTHEAST AND STRENGTHENOVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY...PRODUCING THE STRONGEST AND MOST WIDESPREADSANTA ANA EVENT SO FAR THIS SEASON. THE PEAK IN WIND STRENGTH IS EXPECTED LATE TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. THE WINDS SHOULDWEAKEN SOME FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY BUT WILL STILL REMAIN ABOVE CRITICAL RED FLAG THRESHOLDS.

THE LOWEST HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTEDTO OCCUR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON...WHEN WIDESPREAD SINGLE-DIGIT HUMIDITIES ARE FORECASTED. OVERNIGHT HUMIDITY RECOVERIESWILL BE VERY POOR FRIDAY NIGHT ACROSS WIND PRONE AREAS ANDFOOTHILLS.IF FIRE IGNITION OCCURS..

.THE COMBINATION OF CRITICAL FIREWEATHER CONDITIONS AND VERY DRY FUELS WILL CREATE THE POTENTIALOF RAPIDLY SPREADING WILDFIRE.

SANTA CLARITA VALLEY-649 PM PDT THU OCT 25 2012...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM PDT SATURDAY FORGUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES FOR THE SANTA CLARITAVALLEY...* WINDS...NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS INCREASING TO 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...WEAKENING TO 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY.*

RELATIVE HUMIDITY...LOWERING TO 15 TO 20 PERCENT OVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING...THEN FALLING TO BETWEEN 5 AND 10 PERCENT FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...AND AGAIN SATURDAY. AND CRITICALLY DRY FUELS WILL CREATE EXTREME FIRE DANGERAND/OR FIRE BEHAVIOR.PLEASE ADVISE THE APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS OR FIRE CREWS IN THE FIELDOF THIS RED FLAG WARNING.
