Betty Arenson: Obama’s record shows he’s the wrong choice

Right Here, Right Now

During the Democrats National Convention a woman said, “I don’t know why anyone would not vote for Obama.” That’s an easy one with the last nearly four years of failures and the eventful past month that have highlighted this presidency.

Feb. 2, 2009, to NBC’s Matt Lauer, Obama said if he didn’t have the job done in three years he’d be a one-term president. The Sept. 22, 2012 Obama said ... (we) “have always, said” it would take more than one term, one president. No thanks. Four years later, America nears life support.

Obama’s record is clearly reflected in the deplorable unemployment rate. The duplicitous media errantly spews corkscrew numbers designed to distort the real jobless count that perniciously “revise(s) last month’s” numbers every month. Rather than make succinct, unadulterated short statements, the mass media prints columns of nonsensical numbers and percentages that a 5-year-old could debunk.

In early 2012, Harvard PhD. John Corsi, wrote, “The real unemployment rate for January 2012 is closer to 22.5 percent, not the 8.3 percent reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.” Things are no better now. Equally, author John Williams, Shadow Government Statistics, offers that economic data is manipulated by the Feds “for political purposes.” He elaborates that for a true unemployment rate, the BLS must factor in Table A-15 titled “Alternative measures of labor underutilization” with its “U6 unemployment” that represents those who gave up looking for work, those “marginally attached to the labor force” and the “under-employed” that take part-time jobs while seeking full-time employment. No, Mr. President, the private sector is not “doing fine.”

Barack Obama is “In-Chief” of many things but “Commander” isn’t one of them. This president too readily apologizes for America but never to America.

The planned brutal terrorist assassinations of four Americans in Libya on 9/11 is egregiously inexcusable; one more safety failure of this administration. That embassy is sovereign U.S. territory. It had been attacked twice recently before Sept. 11 this year. They are acts of war and Obama behaves like they’re workplace violence. “Workplace violence” is the Obama administration’s classification of the Fort Hood Massacre where Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan killed 13 and wounded 29 more. This label was assigned irrespective of al-Qaida major operative, Anwar al-Awlaki, declaring Hasan a “hero...fighting against the U.S. army is an Islamic duty.” Osama bin Laden and al-Awlaki are dead but fanatic, anti-American, anti-anything not sharia, terrorism thrives. Half of the Middle East is on fire.

Within hours of the deadly Libyan attack, the unfettered President Obama pompously traveled to pricey celebrity fundraisers. Americans are hanging on by their fingernails while their president appears on witless television shows like “The View,” “Letterman,” “Leno” and “The Daily Show.” However these venues are where you will hear Obama’s true beliefs. He told Jon Stewart, “If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal.” Staggering.

Blue Mountain Group was hired to guard the Benghazi diplomatic contingent. BMG was “virtually unknown” and ”guards patrolled with flashlights and batons instead of guns ... (and) despite their inexperience, the Blue Mountain guards said they feared the Americans were not concerned enough about security” (Reuters). Obama’s 13-year-old daughter had more armed protection on her spring soirée to Mexico than these Americans did in a known hot bed of violence.

Hours after the Libyan murders, Obama cancelled his scheduled press conference and dispatched Ambassador Susan Rice, a virtual unknown, to face cameras on many Sunday talk shows where she struggled to feed the public pig slop about a YouTube video. Weeks later, as more truth emerged, uncharacteristically, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took the wrap; albeit in undefined, mish-mosh statements about “something” being responsibility. President Obama has a penchant for sending out women to take his heat. And women think Republicans are their enemy?

The 2008 candidate Obama answered questions with (that’s) “above my pay grade” and he told of his aim to “fundamentally” change America. Too many did not listen.

Americans need a president who is an adept leader; a veritable commander; a relentless, fearless defender of America and its exceptionalism; one who knows 2+2=4 and most of all a person who believes that American lives are indeed optimal.
