The National Weather Service has issued high wind warnings in Los Angeles County that will last until Friday evening.

This warning coincides with an expected significant Santa Ana wind event due to occur sometime tonight and last until Friday evening.

The service estimates wind speed will increase Friday to sustained levels at 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 mph.

Strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for larger vehicles, according to the service.

Gusts as powerful as projected can also damage property and knock down trees or power lines, the service advises.

These potential high winds, combined with dry fuels, led the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for the county, indicating extreme fire danger. That warning is in effect until 2 p.m. Saturday.
