COC Board of Trustees endorses Prop. 30

Members of the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to endorse Proposition 30’s proposed tax increases on the November ballot.

The motion passed by a 4-1 margin. Board member Scott Wilk, who is the Republican candidate in the 38th Assembly District, was the lone dissenting vote.

If passed, Proposition 30 would generate an estimated $6 billion in annual revenue until 2017. If Proposition 30 fails, it would reduce the 2012-2013 budget by that same amount.

If that occurs, COC would take a $4.6 million budget cut in the 2012-2013 academic year, according to the trustees.
