A funeral service is scheduled Saturday for local football star Chuck Osborne, who died last week of unknown causes.

Friends and family are invited to a two-day viewing this Thursday and Friday between 5 and 10 p.m. each night at the Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills location, Osborne's sister, Denise Bajgrowicz, said Monday.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn.

After the burial, well-wishers are invited to a reception in Osborne’s honor at the Boys & Girls Club at 19425 Stillmore Street in Canyon Country beginning at 3:30 p.m.

All the proceeds in lieu of flowers are to go to the Canyon High School Booster Club or the Boys & Girls Club of America.

The cause of death remained unknown Monday for Osborne, 38, who was found dead inside his La Jolla condo last week.

Osborne played defense for the Canyon High Cowboys and for University of Arizona Wildcats before his career in the NFL.

In 1996, he was a seventh-round pick of the St. Louis Rams.

He played three NFL seasons with the Rams (1996) and Oakland Raiders (1998 and 1999), then retired after two injury-plagued tries with the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots in 2000.
