As a black woman, I walked around for a few days after the election saying "Oh my God, a black man is president of the U.S."
It reminded me of the movie "White Man's Burden" with Harry Belafonte and John Travolta. In it, everything was reversed in our society - black people were the white people and white people were the black people.
You see it, but it takes a minute to wrap your mind around it.
There are some people who are also in a state of shock; they are saying "Oh my God, a black man is president!" but they are not happy.
It will take a while for them to wrap their minds around it.
Recently, court officials visited my home acting on a misdemeanor warrant and looking for my son. I made no excuses for him.
But I also have heard of several incidents, including profiling and rude treatment, that have occurred within the past few days.
So here is some advice: It is time to your life right, get on the straight and narrow, handle your business, fix your broken tail lights, untint your windows and get your tags.
