Tom and Dolly Furney recently celebrated their 50th golden wedding anniversary.

The couple have been residents of the Santa Clarita Valley, primarily in Saugus, for more than 50 years.

Tom and Dolly were married on Oct. 14, 1962, in Newhall at what was then called The Four Square Church.

They met while Dolly was still attending William S. Hart High School, and were married shortly after she graduated.

Tom worked at Thatcher Glass, which was across from the old Saugus Café for 26 years until it closed.

He then worked for Owens Glass Company for another 13 years. He was considered a specialist in his field.

Dolly also worked in the SCV. She worked at DJ Communications Answering Service for many years as well as at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

They have two daughters and four grandchildren. Currently, Tom and Dolly are enjoying retired life together with their camping club and are active members of the SCV Senior Center.

Their family offers “congratulations to Tom and Dolly for representing the few who achieve such an honorable commitment!”
