Thanks to ‘Buck’ McKeon

I just heard a new lands bill was submitted to the Senate ("Wilderness bill encourages locals," Jan. 8).

If it passes, it would protect some of my favorite places in California, including Sequoia and Kings Canyon, the most beautiful areas of Inyo and Mono counties, and some beautiful spots right here in the Santa Clarita area.

We are so lucky to have these three places right in our own backyard included in this bill.

The areas closest to us are Pleasant View Ridge, Magic Mountain, and Piru Creek. I have hiked all three of these areas with the Community Hiking Club, and they are fantastic.

Not only that, but I've snow-shoed on Magic Mountain and seen condors up there.

Who knew condors were in Santa Clarita?

I just wanted to thank Congressman McKeon for working so hard on this bill and helping to make Santa Clarita even more special.
