California Credit Union is offering educators 10 grants of $500 each under its Teacher Grant Program.

Eligible participants are active full-time classroom teachers in Los Angeles County with qualifying projects. Those projects include ones with clearly defined learning objectives tied to students’ academic needs, ones which display creativity in education and target a significant number of students and project activities, timelines, logistics and budgets that are clearly defined.

Past winners from the Spring 2012 grants included local teachers Melody Smith from Castaic Middle School, Michelle Fusner from McGrath Elementary School and Heather Kennedy from West Ranch High School.

Founded originally by teachers for teachers in 1933, California Credit Union remains committed to supporting educators. The deadline to apply for the grants is Oct. 26.

Teachers can apply in person at the Valencia branch 23630 Valencia Blvd. in the shopping center anchored by Barnes and Noble bookstore or by going online at www.californiacu.org/home/educators/teachergrant.
